It appears it is possible PA will be working on extending the Mon Fayette to Monroeville, affording a quicker, more direct way of getting from NCWV to Pittsburgh and avoiding the need to use Parkway West and the nearly always congested and often backed up Fort Pitt Tunnels.

Vote allows for continuation of Mon-Fayette Expressway extension | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

You're telling me I can pay ridiculous tolls to go to Monroeville? This is great news

I don't know how this road makes Pittsburgh more accessible to NCWV. If you're going to the places in Pgh most people actually want to visit (Downtown, Oakland, the North Shore ballpark area etc) via Monroeville then you have to take the Parkway East into town which is every bit as congested at the Squirrel Hill tunnel as Fort Pitt is from the west. And you now have the added bonus of paying tolls on this route as well.

Glad we (WV) are not paying for this. I still think it is dumb you can't go east on the PA turnpike where it intersects, but you can go west (or at least that was the way it was a year or two ago).

This road does nothing for us that 79 doesn't already do for free, it is a colossal waste of taxpayer dollars and probably has the lightest traffic of any highway in the area.

I wonder how the costs break down into construction.

I don't see how it is as congested as the Fort Pitt Tunnels, A major benefit though is providing a route in the Mon Valley area. Avoiding always congested I-70/I-79 from Washington to the Parkway West is a benefit too. They discount tolls with Easy Pass use.

I disagree. To and from Uniontown is a breeze now, making it much easier for the many workers from that area who work at Ruby and WVU Medicine. The traffic load will increase greatly as they make the east part of Pittsburgh more accessible. Not all the traffic will come from here. Much of it will come off of I-70, which, even though they are expanding it in Washington is increasingly congested.

You could be confusing another road with the Turnpike (I-76), which I believe goes around the city to the North. The Mon Fayette intersects with I-70 in the area of Charleroi. I have the impression it will go on to connect with the Parkway East at Monroeville.
