Anybody here familiar with a situation like this?

I have judgements from 2000 that have expired in my state. (Louisiana is 10 years) They were not renewed and can not be renewed.

Am I off the hook, so to speak? Will this still be a deal breaker when I go to try and buy a home? The creditor can't legally put a lien on our home but the judgement is still on record at the courthouse archives permanently.

Also, is the answer any different for FHA vs. Conventional?

Do they appear on your credit report? If so, challenge them and clear them first.
