We're right there too in NJ. $450k house on an acre 2,600 sq/ft and we're at $10,200 I believe. My wife is a state employee and high up on the ladder so we have to live in the state, plus we locked a 3.5% rate for 30 years so we're not going anywhere.

The sad thing is, our $10,200 in taxes just 1 or 2 towns over would be $14k-$16k. That doesn't even figure state income tax, or all the damn tolls, gas tax, sales tax... We must pay $30,000 a year in taxes to live here and I just don't see where that money goes.
