Before I was riding between 2-3k, but I realized the bike doesn't like it too much and kinda chokes at that rpm. Brought it up to 3.5-5k, much smoother in this range. The bike is REALLY smooth at over 5k, but the acceleration is more than I need on the back roads lol.

Your manual may have the best shifting practices in it. I know when I got my 454LTD it did. My new bike hasnt even got a tach on it, you just feel when its good to shift which is how youll eventually be anyway.
