Wondering what are your thought on KTMs long term use. I am eyeing ktm 790 adventure or the tenere 700 to daily and when I feel like exploring trails.
I know tenere 700 is going to be reliable due to it having the MT-07 engine (design concept) and most adventure bikes last high mileage due to the manufacturer knowing ADV riders go on long trips with no cell reception at times and different countries.
however, KTM 790 im sure will have better performance and probably more off road oriented...and looks pretty cool as well. The price is also pretty nice. They just released the price which will be start at 12-13k
I am sure the tenere 700 will be there as well once it comes out.

Tenere will last and work for daily use, the KTM probably not as much. Owned a 1200 Tenere for 3 years and it was built like a watch and would go 200K no problem. My son has an 07 KTM 990 and for a while it was a standing joke it would break down once a trip.....YMMV.....

yeah 2 of my ADV buddies have 2 older big KTM bikes and something always seems to happen to them every so often. So I think I am going to stick with the tenere 700 once it comes out. I know the MT07 engine is bullet proof!
I've been looking for a small bike to save on gas lately and KTM gets a lot of praises for innovation and decent quality bikes. Their entry level bikes aren't very expensive.
I'd never heard of them, but they are either an Austrian company or an Indian company. They also merged with Husqvarna or something.

KTM is an Austrian company, but they are selling a lot in India due to their collaboration with Bajaj, an Indian two wheeler manufacturer.
I have a 1290 Super Adventure R. Got it late last summer, only put on about 6500 miles. Bulletproof in that short time. Absolute ball to ride, with 160 hp and an awesome off-road oriented suspension. KTM is one of the most innovative motorcycle manufacturers in the world. In addition to class leading performance and innovation-their prices are pretty darned decent.
The KTM 690 (and Husky 701, sister products) are the only real game in that class right now. The 790 Adventures (especially the R model) look like they will be worldbeaters-and thousands less than similarly equipped BMWs and Triumphs-as well as lighter and more (or comparably) powerful, with much more of an off-road focus. IMO it will stomp the Tenere whenever Yamaha finally gets around to rolling it out. It's been "rumored" for nearly a decade (and yes, I know it's announced, 2020 IIRC). Tenere 700 looks like it will be the same or more weight than the 790...with less tech and far less power.
