Yeah, I know: there's a lot of them. But I just re-watched the old 1959 classic "On The Beach" with Greg Peck and Ava Gardner. When the sub captain returns to Australia after his exploration of the west coast of North America, and they both decide to go up to the fishing lodge for a romantic weekend getaway, and he's finally accepted that his wife & family back in America is (in a post-nuclear apocalypse world) dead in Connecticutt, and the guys outside of the lodge are singing a lovely tenor strain of Waltzing Matilda... when Ava looks over at Gregory who is making a fire, and he rises, turns and...

they kiss.

That takes the cake! The looks in their eyes... Too much! I suppose that I'm just an old (64) yr old romantic for such scenes.

Anyone else know this great old flick*? BTW: this classic scene is @ about 1:51 minutes in.

Hey! I just found it on YouTube! Apparently I'm not alone in my enjoyment of this scene! Enjoy!

*Not to mention the appearances in this movie of of a very young Anthony Perkins and a very statesman-like Fred Astaire. To think: they are ALL dead now. Too sad! Some old time great actors!

Wow, what a scene! Beautifully directed and filmed. Funny, I just posted my favorite movie scene of all time in another thread, but I think it works for this one, too:

Don't watch this unless you've seen the entire movie, or have no intention of seeing it.

And of course this is a classic:

Another from one of my favorite movies, with my favorite actress:

Here's another one you probably shouldn't watch until you've seen the entire film (which you can do on Youtube):

Random Harvest 1942 (Final - Legendado) - YouTube

Some might say it's overly sentimental or unabashedly romantic, but no matter how many times I see it the ending gets me every time. It's one of my favorite films, even if it is a little cheesy.

There are so many, here are a few:

Somewhere in Time (1980)

The whole movie is romantic, Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve are lovely together. There is a scene where she is walking by the lake and he approaches her and she asks him "Is it You" the setting is beautiful.

Ghost (1990) - The last few min of the movie - Beautiful

Rocky (1976) - Their first kiss, this scene is so sweet and there is an innocence to it (The background song "You take my heart away")

Rocky (1979) When Rocky proposes to Adrian at the zoo and she can't hear him because she's wearing ear muffs, something so wonderful and real in that scene, and Rocky is smiling because she said yes, but also a little surprised, and he said, ya ? It's a sweet touching moment

I remember seeing all these movies in the theater and being captivated

I especially love the scene in Love, Actually where Colin Firth awkwardly proposes in bad Portugese to the waitress. It makes me cry every time!

Somewhere In Time...a movie known for its swelling Rachmoninoff...
Turns off the music and you hear the floor boards as C Reeve slowly
approaches Jane Seymour backed up against a wall, no where to go...never been kissed,
never felt the feelings of this thing love...
their lips touch and she quivers not knowing how to feel this overwhelming
Love...inhaling his breath....no one was the same in that theater....34 years ago
their hearts broke on the floor and rolled towards that screen...never the same after that moment.
