I want to see Zero Dark 30 and was all set to get up and go until.... I watched the news. Being in a theater with all those people, some of whom might be sick, who knows. And getting popcorn and drink from a clerk who might not have washed his hands today. And then handing over my credit card to someone who might hand it back with germs . What to do? Stay home and be bored or just do it ?????

I would stay home if I were you. It's the news, and they never sensationalize anything. If you step outside you WILL get the flu, and thats a fact you can't ignore. You should also quit your job, you have no idea where your coworkers have been.

I'm hoping you're being sarcastic. If you're serious then you're paranoia goes beyond the movie theater. How do you go to work or school or the supermarket or run any errands? You can get sick from any number of things. Go out and do what ya gotta do and just hope for the best.

If you're really that concerned you can bring some disinfectant wipes to wipe down your seat/armrests beforehand (I actually do that on airplanes,) and use Purell after you touch doorhandles, etc.

Go during a weekday matinee. Other than a creepy guy in an overcoat in the back row, there won't be anyone there.

I don't blame you for being concerned. Being in a movie theater is different from being in a store where people are moving about. You are stuck sitting next to just a couple of people in a packed theater, any of whom might have this flu. I got a flu shot in November and I keep some antibacterial lotion with me that I put on my hands before I get out of my car to go into a store. I look at it as being careful. A movie can wait until I can get it on PPV from my cable provider.
