-Rocky
-Chinatown
-Alien
-Dirty Harry
-Deliverance
-Serpico
-Taxi Driver
-The Deer Hunter
-The Exorcist

My list of all time favorites has more films from the '70's than any other decade, but I suspect that is as much a product of my age in the '70's as anything else.

However, I must chide the OP for making a list of that decade's great films without including either of the two best, "Network" and "Nashville."

I'd argue the 60s was better:

-Bullitt
-Psycho
-To Kill a Mockingbird
-The Sound of Music
-Westside Story
-Goldfinger
-The Haunting
-The Jungle Book
-True Grit
-Mary Poppins
-The Birds
-Dr. Strangelove
-Night of the Living Dead
-The Good the Bad and the Ugly
-Planet of the Apes
-Ocean's Eleven
-El Dorado

There's a bunch I'm forgetting too.

OF course there were. Every decade could produce just as great a list of movies.

The Wanderers (1979) is also a great movie. You can watch the whole thing on Youtube.
