I'll admit, she even has a few years on me! But I've always been enchanted by "Dame Judith". I caught (finally) "Mrs. Brown" on our comcast free movies the other night and it was great. Unfortunately most Americans probably know her just from playing "M" in the last 25 or 30 (at least since '95) James Bond movies. I haven't watched a Bond film since aobut '76 so I missed her in all those.

I had seen her in some TV stuff when I lived overseas, and thinking back I probably went a long time before seeing her in "Shakespeare In Love". I'd say her performance as Queen Victoria ranks up there with her performance in "Notes On A Scandal".

I love Judy Dench! Mrs. Brown is one of my favorites b'c of Billy Connolly. I loved Judy in Chocolat and many other movies but I've never seen her in Bond. I don't watch them. She's one of the all-time greats.

She freaked me out in Notes. (That's a good thing.)
I am watching her right now in a wonderful ensemble piece, a BBC adaptation of several Elizabeth Gaskell novellas.

Can you believe she is 74! I could never list all of her accomplishments in film, television, theatre, and let us not forget, directing. This lady has done it all!!

She really won my heart through her television work for the BBC. As Time Goes By is not to be missed IMO.

She seems more, "at home" in the Classics. I certainly hope that she never retires from acting

Bluewillowplate, you are absolutely right about "Notes", the end scene on the park bench was especially creepy.

Truly heartless, the lady has a great depth of talent. One night on Letterman, Kevin Spacey told a funny story about JD, seems he had run into her somewhere she was shooting a movie and didn't like using the gym in the hotel because she would be pestered by fans, didn't care for the lack of privacy. He told her, "hey, tell the director to set up a gym with whatever equipment you want in YOUR SUITE".

She asked him, "they'd do that"? He said of course, American film producers spend money on whatever their stars want. Apparently she was not used to this kind of pampering from BBC and British producers. The next time he saw her he asked her about it and she said they had done everything she asked for, "I'm MAD with power", she gloated.

Priceless

She also runs a good fish and chips chain over in Merry Old. Except she beats her employees.

Absolutly love Dame Judi, and thanks for reminding me about "Mrs. Brown", one of my all time favorites. Terrific acting from both of the main charachters, if you ask me!
