His next film is being shown in a Berlin fest in a few weeks. There was so much vagueness about the release date. There's still no general release date.
I'd like to know more about it except for the cast and the fact that it's a love triangle (kind of like To the Wonder).
I was disappointed in The New World, Tree of Life and To the Wonder (too much great photography, not enough story), but I'm a huge fan of Thin Red Line and Days of Heaven.
Mr. Malik. After seeing his background I think he's say a 'visual ' philosopher when we see his films. Surely different from the run of the mill. As he says he just lets that camera roll.
Appreciate his approach when doing 'The New World'. Jamestown opened up when I visited after seeing the film.
That perfectly sums up Malick's body of work: Beautifully boring.
If Malick's work is considered boring, then I like boring. I can also see people calling Yasujiro Ozu's work boring - the same movie, over and over again - and in his later years, no camera movement - set at tatami level, no tracking shots, no crane shots, meticulous set design / setup - from which are some of my favorite films. I also absolutely love Chantal Akerman's Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1975). Stationary camera, long takes, medium framing, observing everyday tasks. Day in, day out.

Tree of Life was ok, I liked the Thin Red Line. Haven't seen all of his films, but his narrative is excellent. Badlands, was particularly disturbing, really caught the feel of the Midwest. The Stark murders, which "Badlands" was supposed to be based upon, was about the true crime 1950's Stark /Fugate murders in Midwest.
And like Kubrick he seems to really think about the music in his films. More than once he introduced compositions that made me go out and get them. They were so good. Thatmusic in the opening of 'The New World' fit perfectly.

Excellent point. The music melds so well with the scene it's part of the experience.
I just saw this trailer, Looked like a cross between Spring break and the Tree of life. Certainly would watch at home but not going to a theater for this one.
They announced that Knight of Cups will be released on March 4, 2016.
I have no idea why it would take so long.
