Just saw
Maggie. Truly incredible. Really gave a whole different spin on the whole zombie genre. Very dark, grim, sad film.
-AS gives possibly his best acting performance here. Superb, extremely understated, and subtle. I didn't think AS was capable of doing a film like this, but he really pulled this off well.
-AB has come a long way since her
Little Miss Sunshine days. Another excellent, poignant performance here by her. And, I can't believe AB is already 19! For some reason, I thought she was younger in LMS back in 2007 (she was probably playing younger).
-I'm guessing that the Maggie character
left her family (before the film started) because she was showing signs of the virus & didn't want to put her family at risk.
-The
almost post apocalyptic setting was great, i.e. the deserted roads, empty gas stations, burnt crops, etc. You could tell it was just a matter of time before civilization completely went downhill....
-The "zombie" virus here didn't work as it has in other zombie films/TV series -
i.e., where a person gets infected, dies, then comes back to "life" as a zombie - and can only be "killed" by being shot/stabbed in the head or burned up. In this film, it seems the person became the "zombie" without actually dying?!....and could be killed "normally", i.e. the AS character killed the one zombie in the gas station by breaking it's neck
