So the thread about which movies we would like to see remade got me thinking about which movies badly need a sequel.
Beetlejuice 1988: I know there were talks of remaking this film, but I think the film needs a sequel rather than a remake. I think a sequel that moves forward with Lydia Deetz would be fantastic. She could be photographer in NYC and the story could be about her receiving an old trunk from her mother that is filled with old photographs and how one night the people in the pictures come to life and Lydia gets sucked into the pictures (which turns out to be the netherworld). She would meet all sorts of weird, strange and wonderful characters...just an idea.
If a movie actually "needs" a sequel, doesn't that kind of imply that it's not a good movie? That it was incomplete, that it left you unhappy and unsatisfied?
By the way, I always felt that Master and Commander was probably intended to have a sequel, based on the way it ended. And I would have been happy to see a sequel.
