Just recently got HBO, and used to really enjoy the Sopranos as well as Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I have started watching Boardwalk Empire, but am looking for one more solid show to watch.

Any suggestions?

GAME OF THRONES.

People are going to recommend DEADWOOD. I didn't like it. Too slow. Imagine someone screaming the f-bomb over and over and over again while they meander down a dusty street. That's what watching DEADWOOD is like.

Oz was quite good.. Not sure it overly holds up over time.

I liked Deadwood.. I didn't find it any slower than Sopranos, which.. That had its dead moments in it (and don't get me started on the final episode).. But, you are very correct in the rest of your assessment of it. Someone figured out they averaged an F-bomb every 40 seconds throughout the series or something like that..

Just finished the entire series. I don't get HBO, so I had to use Netflix, Amazon Prime, my local library......very good series, imo. Not sure the final season couldn't have been done better though. Very good quality cinematography, music, etc.

Probably will go w/ Deadwood next. Hell on Wheels isn't bad, watched a couple shows, not HBO though (AMC). Breaking Bad worth watching (AMC).

Just watched half an hour of Deadwood and couldn't finish it. Obviously unrealistic language for that era. Won't be watching any more.

Yes, the Wire. It's probably the best show HBO has ever done. It starts kind of slow though. You have to stick with it for the first few episodes. If you do, you won't be disappointed. I'm convinced centuries from now people will study the Wire to gain insight into early 21st century America the way we study Dickens to learn about Victorian England.

If the Wire is not your thing though, you can pick pretty much anything HBO has done. They're all pretty good, with the notable exception of True Blood. That's a steaming pile. The first season is ok, but after that it gets worse and worse and worse.
