If the first movie opens with a scene set on Tatooine, I'm getting up and asking for my money back.
Just kidding. We know it'll be Dantooine.
STAR WARS had exceeded its quota for desert planets.
In all serious though, they've covered desert planets, forest planets, swamp planets, ice planets, ocean planets, and urban planets. The setting doesn't really matter to me so much as a compelling story.
I won't be disappointed to see Jedi, Mandalorians, and Wookiees. But I do hope they go beyond "fighting the Evil Empire" as the central plot element.
Well, Mark, you've been avoiding the Disney animations, but that's where they've been building their "non-Starwalker" audience for the next couple of generations.
They've introduced a whole host of new characters and new directions to go. About a year ago while riding a bus, I heard a small child explaining Star Wars to an adult for about twenty minutes, and he never mentioned a Skywalker once--his whole understanding of Star Wars was from the Disney animations.
Disney is setting up to ride this train for generations to come.

True. What better way to ensure continued stories of Star Wars than to create new stories via animated movies and series to pull in the young kids.

Only because the animation is so awful. I have no inherent objection to animation. I love good animation. But the animation for all the STAR WARS cartoons since Tartovsky left has been horrible. It looks like bad puppetry.
I like the original 3, and Sith. I don't care about the rest. I'm too old for this stuff now. Let the children have at it.
