The scene in Life Is Beautiful where the little boys father puts him in that metal box at the end and tells him he has to hide or they won't win the game and then proceeds to try and hide and a soldier finds him and marches him off... in front of his son peeking through the box.
The scene in Castaway when Wilson floats away is powerful and dramatic. I like the way the first part has no music, just the sound of the water splashing as Chuck (Tom Hanks) tries to reach Wilson. Then the somber and sad music quietly begins as he realizes that Wilson has been lost and he's all alone.
