I've always enjoyed this nice movie. A country western/ Christian type movie. starring of course Robert Duvall.

Movie is about a has been country star who basically has a start over in life. The soundtrack is great.

A lovely, quiet, moving film. Would watch it again, any time. "On the wings if snow white dove....." - what a haunting song. One of the unsung beautiful films of all time. Duvall at his finest.

Yes its very nice. Forgot how I even found it. On cable probably. It just stuck with me and became one of my faves. And the Betty Buckley (?) songs...Over You...love it. Hold the ladder...A+. Every song just gives you chills.

The guy who played the little boy never acted in a movie again I think. Wonder why. He was very good.

Yes, a classic. https://www.timeout.com/us/film/tender-mercies

Robert Duvall, who starred in this, played the young man Boo Radley in the film "To Kill a Mockingbird."

I want to see this. Heard comparisons to Crazy Heart also featuring Robert DuVall that has a similar story. And I loved that movie.

yes. One of my all time favorites. As someone who had to change my life and start over it has a special meaning for me.

And, as mentioned, that awesome song Over You by Betty Buckley!

And such good roles for women--Betty Buckley, Tess Harper, and a young Ellen Barkin...

Yes indeed. Every major role in that movie was exquisitely acted. And all so quietly and understated. I don't remember if it got many awards or accolades, but if it didn't, it should have.
