I don't think I've given that movie a thought since my gf dragged me to it in 1973.

Dr. Strangelove strikes me as the quintessential black comedy film. The 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life' bit at the end of Life of Brian strikes me as the quintessential black comedy scene.

Also, Grosse Point Blank was very good.

Glad I read a little of the thread before replying...couldn't understand how MASH was a black comedy. I was going to say Fresh Prince of Bel Aire when I saw the thread title!!!

I think "black comedy" is more of a British way of putting it.

Finally someone said my top choice, Eating Raoul.

Other black comedies:

Scenes from the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills*
Beetlejuice
Natural Born Killers

The one by Paul Bartel, NOT the bigger box office hit Down and Out in Beverly Hills.
