Kim Novak had a very alluring quality on screen

She was so mysterious in Vertigo with Jimmy Stewart.

I liked her in Pal Joey too with Frank Sinatra - not as big a fan of his although he was good in this movie.

"Leave the World Behind."

My impression is that a lot of people didn't like this movie. Not sure why. There are some unpleasant people and moments but I've never seen that as a reason to not like a movie. The subject matter is apt and a fair choice. There are some spectacular scenes. The initial one on the beach took my breath away with fear.

Of course there are the passive-aggressive woke jabs a little more illuminated than they need to be for most of us to "get it." That's always irritating to me but given the source I expected and made room for that.

I watched it all with no urge to take a pause. It was generally entertaining. Not as frightening as I would have liked it to be.

Mostly I was left questioning the exact motive for making the movie. Was there or wasn't there one, besides making money? I've been reading some reviews to see what others are thinking.

Two for the Seesaw (1962)

An object lesson in how poor casting can ruin a film.

The only one in my opinion. The cast is perfect. Costumes, hair and makeup, cinematography, settings, the countryside, all just beautiful in a very English way. Never seen Kate Winslett so fetching.

Introduced granddaughter, 11, to Jane Austin watching it together.

Emma is next, the one with Gwyneth but only because of the perfect Mr. Knightly, Jeremy Northam.

Laserblast (1978)

An unhappy, late '7os surfer type finds an extraterrestrial laser gun laying around in the desert. He then finds himself gradually transformed by the gun's vengeful influence.
Typical cheesy B-movie, that wasn't too bad as a late 7os, slice of teen life.. has a little romance, a little bit of action & sci-fi elements. But the ending is kinda senseless & anticlimactic. Its online reviews aren't good, but I basically liked it. (on Prime)

"On The Beach"- (a remake) (free on You Tube).
Armand Assante Rachel Ward, Bryan Brown, etc
It shows the Terrible Consequences, when heads of governments make the wrong decisions...
