So I originally saw the first movie when I was maybe 14 and I remember it being really creepy. Farfetched but it's a movie. So the 2019 version had a few story differences that didn't really change this story too much until toward the very end. John Lithgow plays Jeb the character that was played by the actor that played Herman Munster in the original movie he was pretty good in the role. There didn't seem to be an overuse of CGI which is something I personally can't stand. The walking dead were fine with makeup so it didn't look fake. Decent performances by the children too which is often pretty hard to get although in the original the child actor was fantastic.
Didn't see any woke stuff. All around a pretty decent remake if you're not dead set on it staying true to the story from the original movie.
And it wasn't like the evil Dead remake which was terrible the original of that was cheesy and low budget and I think that was part of its charm.
