He has always been good in whatever part he had
Great in many of them
So losing him (even at his age) is a loss to audiences and the movie business
But he is 90 and I can understand why he might not want to do something so demanding

Says he is writing a novel (has written at least 2 autobiographies that were very readable) that I look forward to

A really good actor who seemed willing to appear in almost any movie, good or bad.

Blame it on Rio comes to mind. I can't believe he starred in that.

I especially liked him as Alfred in the Batman/Dark Knight series. He was a regular actor in other Christopher Nolan's films as well.

It comes to my mind too. Being a young teenage boy at the time, this movie was a masterpiece to me

Decades later now it seems more pedo-y and icky.

Yes, he was a great Alfred. It's nice to know Caine writes. Gene Hackman retired and became a novelist.

My favorite was Get Carter (the original), but really, he was great in everything he did.

He stated at 93, he is not likely to get any leading roles anymore. Which is true. The young studs get those.

I love that he's announcing his retirement at 93 and goes on to say that he's writing a novel, as though that is taking it easy. Most of us, if we ever reach that age, will have been retired for 30 years and making it from the recliner in the living room to the rocker on the front porch will be a big accomplishment for us.

I wish him the happiest of retirements and would not be surprised if he made a cameo here and there even in retirement.
