I was never big on DR. STRANGE, even as a kid. Just too weird for my taste. But this looks like it might be good. It's a change of pace from super heroes in tights and armor anyway.
I admit the idea of Cumberbatch in the role had to grow on me, mainly because the guy's everywhere. I didn't think Joaquin Phoenix was a bad choice, either.
After seeing the trailer, I'm sold on Bennie.
(In Related News: I was also apprehensive when Affleck was cast as Batman...and then I saw the very first teaser.)
I liked him because he kept you safe from the things you didn't want to know about. Once again Marvel picks the best people to play in their movies.
I like characters like the "Doctors" (Fate and Strange), Madame Xanadu, Spectre, Phantom Stranger, Ghost Rider, Wonder Woman, etc., because they're not bound by the same laws and limitations as the Batmans and Iron Mans. You can get away with all kinds of stuff.
I really want DC to bring Swamp Thing back to the screen, because after the way Alan Moore wrote him, he could literally be one of the most powerful entities in either of the Big Two's comics universes. He turned Gotham City into one big gargantuan briar patch and Batman couldn't do sh–t about it.
I really love the character, but I was worried about the director. He's a horror guy and I haven't liked most of his movies(although I do really enjoy Sinister) so I had serious reservations. That said, this trailer blew me away. Cumberbatch's accent is a little iffy, but the visuals and the tone are outstanding.

Yup. Even more so because everyone of these people went to other words/realms and as you said you can get away with more in these realms,
etc.
One quick add. I think they have been working on this even before they announced it to everyone. It's hitting the screen this November.
If memory serves me well though I seem to remember Batman casting an enchantment when going up against someone who uses magic.

Scott Derrickson's probably the perfect choice. It's time for some atmo to balance out the sock-em-ups.

They finally had a shortlist of directors in 2014, and Derrickson got the gig. They had to push production back four months or Benedict wouldn't have been able to commit. They originally wanted it to be out in the summer.
