I am looking for a title to a movie from the 80's. I watched it over 15 years ago, so bear with me! It is about a guy dying in a car accident when he is drag racing, and goes up the elevator to heaven, and (can't remember this part) then gets to see his girlfriend or something like that....then it ends with drag racing in which, I believe, he saves his girlfriends life, by stopping the car and not letting it go over the cliff. Does this sound familiar?

It's not Heaven Can Wait.

That involves the guy 'dying' when riding a bike and supposidly being hit by a truck, and then in his reincarnation involves Football. No drag racing.

Hmm- trying to think.

That's right.
How about The Heavenly Kid?

The Heavenly Kid (1985)

Actually, I think I used to get both of those movies confused when I was a kid (similar posters?).

I remember both of those movies. I liked Heaven Can Wait with Warren Beatty and Julie Christie a whole lot. The other one is less memorable for me.
