Here's a weird one that could have had a subtitle like, "Just because you think they're after you doesn't mean they're not"

Society (1989) - search it out, it's pretty bizarre

That movie was hilariously bad but was also kind of creepy!

House with William Katt was pretty spooky at times. The 3 (or 4) sequels weren't, though. I think one of the sequels didn't even have anything to do with the original.

As Hugh Downs used to say on Concentration, 'you are absolutely right!!'...the Tooth Fairy was one of the scariest one-shot horror villains in movie history---she was NOT PLAYING AROUND, snatching people from moving cars and such...gives me the heebie-jeebies in broad daylight

Here's a more recent one: Dead Silence, about a haunted mannequin. It's pretty creepy!

House is on par with the Evil Dead series in the comedy / horror genre.

Great call!

Night of the Comet? Hee hee...so campy. I love it.

Re-Animator was pretty good.
Phantasm, Poltergeist, hmmm obscure though?

This one looks pretty disturbing...guess it depends on what scares you?
Shocking surprises or creepy reality?
Things jumping out at you or just a general uneasiness?

Here's the link to the whole 'J-Horror' wiki category.

EDIT:

Oh yeah...Cemetery Man (Dellamorte Dellamore) 1994 is a great obscure horror movie too.
