If there were a thread on "best cover of a hit song recorded by someone else" the list would begin and end right here.

Lots of bands do covers and many of them are very good. But it can be argued that Joe's career IS this one cover song. He not only made it his own, he made it better. And his version is even more timeless than the Beatles original.

If you were going to see any band/vocalist and they left out a cover song from their set, you might not care. But if Joe ever left this out, you'd probably demand your money back.

Here's a 2002 performance that's even more remarkable than the Woodstock version. NOTE = I'm not having success with putting the start time in the URL despite trying old & new YT parameters, so just start it at 8:37.

The Beach Boys covering the Ronettes' "I Can Hear Music", written by Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich. Brian Wilson's voice is as sweet as ever.
