Which classic rock album did you like better and why?

I liked Journey's "Escape" album more cause I thought the album was much more consistent and I personally thought that album had better album cuts, every song IMO could've easily been a Top 40 hit, I give that album a 10/10

I thought Foreigner's "4" album was a good album, the first half of the album was great but the second half wasn't nearly as good compared to side one, I give that album a 8/10

I agree.

I like them both but it does seem Journey went out of their way to put top notch stuff on it while I think Foreigner filled it with some bad cuts.

Then again, I like them both, but Journey is on my list of best bands of all time so I am skewed towards them to begin with.

Comes down to who is running things I believe and who makes the final decisions on what gets on and what does not.

Maybe Journey had some better people surrounding them at this point?

I like Foreigner. Good songs on there, but I love Journey and I was able to listen to the CD/LP all the way through (except "Mother Father.")

My vote goes to Journey.

The other two albums that came out around the same time (both from a year earlier, 1980, that I always listened to along with Escape) were REO Speedwagon's "Hi Infidelity" and Styx's "Paradise Theater." Especially REO, I was able to listen both albums all the way through.

I think "Hi Infidelity" also could have been an album where every song could have been a top 40 hit as well.

Escape was a pretty good album, 4 wasn't nearly as good as 1, 2 or 3.

But my favorite album from 1981 was
