I prefer Connie because she has a smooth, mellow voice. Aretha screams/shouts too much.
Well, i don't know about screaming, but shouting is part and parcel of soul/gospel music. Aretha is really a gospel artist singing r&b for the most part.
Aretha is pure power and majesty. When i hear her sing "Think," my blood runs cold. That may come off as screaming to you, but man, all i hear is beauty.

Yes, it does come off as screaming to me (and many others).
IMO, Connie's voice was smoother and more refined than Aretha's.
In fact, Connie's voice was so good that she supplied the singing for Tuesday Weld in the movie "Rock Rock Rock."
Agree with some of the original article. My top ten would have to include Maurice White (Earth, Wind & Fire), Johnny Mathis, and Greg Lake (Emerson, Lake, & Palmer). Guess I'd have to bump Lennon (unique voice, awesome lyricist), Mercury (good, but TOP 10?!?), and Streisand (see Mercury).
