Remember when M.C. Hammer dropped the "M.C." and just became Hammer to try and become harder edged to fit the mold of gangsta rappers? That lasted about two seconds.
I'll bet if he had killed someone with a hammer, his career probably wouldn't have tanked.
Funny thing is that Hammer had a pretty strong reputation of being no-joke and a fairly legitimate street tough guy .... he just didn't take his music in that direction ....
It would be the 90's mainly for me. I never strayed far away from Tupac, Bizzy Bones, Fugees (Lauryn Hill), Ruff Ryders, although wait, I do like me some Wutang.
That's hilarious!!! I'm just glad you didn't say the South ruined it!! I'm from the South and I don't think we did but some of us are really Eastside stomping it while it's down!! I'd have to say between 91 and 97 myself.
