Re. Light My Fire: It was the first epic song to make the national airwaves back in 1967. It was played in its entirety on many stations, though there was that gawd awful single that cut out the entire bridge, which saw equal and eventually more playtime. I was 13 then and that was one cool piece of music to my ears.
On Memorial Day of that year my family was in the car traveling to my aunt's house, an annual ritual, and my dad, doing the usual driving, held veto power on the radio. We were listening to WBZ out of Boston and on comes Light My Fire. There I was sitting in the back seat and thinking to myself "Alll riiight!" He left it on until the bridge bored him to death and then changed stations. Not finding anything else to his liking he eventually changed back to WBZ and the bridge was still playing. And as well as I remember the date and the event I can't recall what his exact words were at the time - which may be for the best.
Anyway, here's another from the same year by the Strawberry Alarm Clock.
