Are we primed for some sort of societal rejection of the lil wayne's, Nicki Minaj's, Katy Perry's, and Ke$ha's of the world? Maybe not to the nihilistic extremes of Nirvana (though it was extremely seductive to those with half a brain), but a return to non-synthesized vocal effects and actual instruments. Real music with real emotions. Thoughts (as I jam out to some LMFAO haha)? Opinions? Weigh in here
Yeah, I like Alice in Chains, Godsmacks a bit hard for me but listenable.
But Nirvana played just enough pop sound in their music to also crossover to the top40 charts leading the way for grunge which was a rejection of '80's commercialism.
Nirvana was showman enough to play on conventions, and he'd be doing that today if he were new. Most people my age remember Nirvana's "baby penis" cover on Nevermind, for instance. And the cover art is still making waves on Facebook. I can't recall any AIC or Godsmack cover art.
And here they played on the Beatles in their Ed Sullivan appearances, which is a cool concept video.
