We lost one of the greats today, and all we have left are his music and memories. My children know this mans music. Rest in peace George. You will be missed!

In Memoriam: George Jones (1931 - 2013)
George Glenn Jones will be remembered for a lot of things, but especially for his distinctive singing voice. You cannot forget his phrasings and the ways he would reflect the mood of a two-to-three-minute song in a way that few could. His style influenced Johnny Paycheck's career when it first began. But George had a legendary story of his life and career that would put many TV movies to shame. He earned his nickname (The Possum) because of his facial and nose shapes (I kid you not), and many have said that he looked like a possum. Thanks to countless number one and Top 10 country hits, he's one of the greatest country artists of all time and has his rightful place in the Country Music Hall of Fame, in which he was inducted in 1992.
Possum, I couldn't be more proud than right now to call you Fellow Texan, and what a blessing it is that you've lived long enough to make great music for all of us. God bless you, George!
Choices and Wild Irish Rose are the most touching GJ songs.
