Anyone else feel they needed to make a place for you to conversate with people on the good, bad, and ugly of the old days of Power Rock/Ballads? I love me some Power ballads and Power Rock.
One would be harder put to find a better starting point than Steve Perry who had just one of the finest voices to grace an arena. I remember becoming aware of him in 1984 with the release of "I Want to Know What Love Is" but really didn't appreciate how great his voice was until "We Are The World" was a great tool for doing side by side tests of who could sing and who could SING.

If you want to point to ballads by Hendrix ballad, none of which I would considering as "Power ballads," I would consider
Angel,
Hey Joe,
Wind Cries Mary
Red House
Have You Heard
Little Wing
