Have you ever wondered about those songs used in cartoons, on TV and in movies? We all know the "Twilight Zone" and "Jaws" notes. But...

What's the violin melody used every time a character is sad?

What's the one played when two people look at each other and fall in love~the classical one?

What's that one two people play on the piano?

What's that tune played whenever someone wakes up in the morning, with birdies chirping and the sun shining?

What's that song they always play for bellydancers?

Do YOU know any of these songs people hear many times but might never know the titles of? TELL US!

For example:

Laurel & Hardy Theme Song Dance Of The Cuckoos (With Vocals) - YouTube

Charles Gounod - Funeral March of a Marionette - YouTube

The Toy Parade, AKA The Leave It To Beaver Theme - YouTube

I'm going to post again in order to show that this is the thread to use.

Entry Of The Gladiators - Julius Fucik - YouTube

EDIT: If anyone knows how to delete a duplicate thread, I would appreciate advice. I've been searching for a way to do it but haven't found any leads. Thank you!

Thank you for deleting the repeat thread!

I thought this might be interesting, but maybe I'll going to be the only one. Or, perhaps my explanation is confusing.

The above song is used by many circuses for the entrance of their parade~unless things have changed. Now, to answer a couple of my own questions:

What's the violin melody used every time a character is sad?

Zefren presents Hearts and Flowers - 1908 - YouTube

What's the one played when two people look at each other and fall in love~the classical one?

Pyotr Ilich Tchaikovsky - Romeo & Juliet Love Theme - YouTube
Now, run in slow motion toward each other through a meadow on a sunny day, your arms outstretched, beaming smiles, yearning to embrace one another!

I always figured that the music played for the dance can-can was called "The Can-Can". Imagine my surprise when I heard this melody!

Offenbach - Infernal Galop - YouTube

Here's the "Lone Ranger theme song" or the song that everyone knows from "A Clockwork Orange."

I want to correct the title. It is "Galop Infernal"; I suppose that, in English, it would be "Infernal Gallop".

Now for a couple of melodies that might sound famliar but might not be ones you can put names to:

Grieg: Peer Gynt suite - In the Hall of the Mountain King - YouTube

Edvard Grieg - Morning Mood - YouTube

A very interesting thread; thx to the OP for posting!

Pop quiz: does anyone remember what (hint: Academy-Award winning) 1980's movie was the song below featured in?

"Ordinary People" features it.

I always think of Carl Sagan's "Cosmos" series when I hear it~very Bachlike.

Of course, everyone knows this from "2001: A Space Odyssey":

Richard Strauss - Also sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30 - YouTube
Also sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30 (Thus Spoke Zarathustra or Thus Spake Zarathustra)
This is the complete work, beyond that rousing start. Yes, there's much more!

The brooding villain~whether in a castle/mansion and including Captain Nemo aboard the Nautilus~always seems to have a huge pipe organ upon which he plays this music, which often is trotted out for compilations of Halloween music:

J. S. Bach Toccata and Fugue in D minor - YouTube
