Al Bowlly is captivating more and more people as we happen upon his music. Then, I found this sometimes after I had learned more about the man who is considered the creator of crooning. For me, Al leaves all others behind due to the emotional power in his music. He is a tragic symbol of his era. This song sums it up: The man is a victim of the war, and so is Bowlly~soldier and civilian, respectively.
