TCM is showing "Libeled Lady" (1936), which opens with "You" over the opening credits. Coincidentally, this melody is in the opening credits of "The Great Ziegfeld" (1936), which was nominated for Best Picture along with "Libeled Lady", which stars William Powell and Myrna Loy who ALSO star in "The Great Ziegfeld"! "TGF" deservedly won! This must have been the umpteenth matchup of Powell/Loy (mainly the Thin Man series) *whew* BTW: "Libeled Lady" also gives us Spencer Tracy and Jean Harlow, who was dating William Powell at the time! I'm not finished! That year, Spencer Tracy was nominated for Best Actor in "San Francisco" (WHY?!), and William Powell was nominated for "My Man Godfrey" (WOW!). Th-th-th-that's all, folks!
Here's my absolute favorite musical number in Best Picture winner "The Great Ziegfeld". How did those girls dance on moving beds?!
I was listening to some old vocal Trance stuff from the better days of that genre, the early 2000's. But now listening to this one. Cold is a good band, they need another major hit to make anyone but their loyal flock to notice them again. I've always liked them and this is a good album. Its on YT, give it a listen.
