I didn't find a similar thread, so figured this one might be fun (at the risk of offending true C&W enthusiasts).
I'll start with two, one of which I believe is an earnest attempt at giving a C&W "twang" to a solid rock song, the other pretty much a goof, but executed flawlessly.
I purposely avoided "New Americana" bands in these examples, e.g. Jayhawks, early Wilco, etc. as I'd fully expect them to have significant C&W influences.
This is hard because there are a lot of southern rock, southern metal and that. Depending on how you look at the way the genres overlap, some maybe. Like with Kid Rock say Only God Knows would count because he wasn't country rock/southern rock at the time while say Picture was released at the point he became country.
I chuckled at the inclusion of KISS above - I'd forgotten all about that song, but always thought it was KISS trying to cash in on Rod Stewart's mid-70s popularity :-)
Not a big Zakk Wylde fan but that Pride & Glory tune was interesting. Parts of it sorta reminded me of Zep's "Gallow's Pole".
Hootie & The Blowfish didn't want to go country but they had sounds of country. Now Darius Rucker is a solo country artist just where is always wanted to be.
