Personally I don't like. Nonetheless its not mediocre and by today's standards it is good music something we haven't heard in a while. However lets not ignore the fact the only reason he is popular is because of Anna Perp on the Purple Swag video. At first no one could give a crap b/c truth be told the lyrics to that song sucks. People were just interested in the avg looking white girl acting ghetto in the video. Shes avg in the sense she looks like the typical white girl that could be your sister, cousin, girl next door, etc. she was real and not paid to be there. This leads to the next point that ASAP success is due to the fact that they are able to connect with the young generation of today and cross cultural barriers between white and black:
Young dudes and girls wanna be like him and to some degree represents the freedom and success that they aspire to have.
ASAP crew is a rarity in rap scene where he can act like "that" and the white crowd the media loves him for it, for being himself. Not everyone can pull off the babyface-raw-swag-ghetto look and get away without much scrutiny. Really though again he owes it all to Anna I mean we haven't heard Bill O Rely or media saying more or less, "his music is poisoning the minds of our youth" Instead of screwing ASAP over in interviews like with most of our rappers they are hypocritically very supportive
ASAP MOB is the **** ! Who you kidding. They have some "trap" inspiration to their music.
To me it's different and the production to the lyrics in some songs are what Hip hop is all about.
I went to a ASAP concert in Cali and more than half of the fans where white people. It's now cool to be "black" whatever that may mean to you.
If you don't agree then you deaf dumb !
