I'll be watching a TV show or a movie, hear a song I like, and then try to find out what it is, go to iTunes and buy it.

I have no idea why, but I've also been buying a lot of music from the generation before mine and even the one before that one.

Probably because it's better But a word of advice, if you hear a song you like on tv or a movie, look up other songs by that artist.

Pandora, Jango...those have been helpful for new music.
I also stream a radio station out of New York when I feel like checking out the Top 10 type stuff (PowerHitz).
Sometimes I'll go on a YouTube journey, starting with a specific song and work my way through the recommended videos, making a list of the good stuff I find to download later.
I have a buddy in Canada who is involved in the underground music scene and he's hooked me up with some really great international rap and hip hop. I can't get enough French rap because of this guy.

KEXP and KCRW are both really good, and I frequently listen to WRNR from Annapolis. I also read quite a few music blogs and online magazines (Paste, COS, Pitchfork, etc.)and I'll just listen on YouTube or Grooveshark.
