That instrument in the introduction to this video -- what is that horn instrument, exactly? I ask because I've of course heard it before many times but have never identified it because I don't like jazz and it's honestly the worst musical sound I've ever heard, but I've never been sure what it is. (I only used this video because I finally came across it again and the video is not related; I'm just interested in the sound part at the beginning.) Thanks!
What is the worst-sounding instrument you've ever heard? What "hurts" your ears and makes you cringe?
I'm not too fond of banjos, generally. I don't quite hate them, but mostly: bleah. They are like some guy at a party standing to close to you, telling one jokes after another, and sticking his elbows into your ribs.
I love the sound of a muted trumpet, I don't really HATE any instruments, with the exception of maybe bagpipes, but even those sound cool for a couple minutes, anything more than that and they get annoying. I'd say the only musical sound/thing I hate are computers in the form of dubstep and electronic music, that just sounds like garbage.
Now, that's interesting, because woodwind instruments don't bother me at all (and the banjo thing made me laugh! -- but I don't mind it). Could it be possible that I just don't like ANY horn instruments? I'm going to try to listen to all of them briefly (or as many as I can find on Wiki or YouTube) and report back! I don't feel right condemning the entire horn section of life!

Listen to an Otis Redding song and then tell me you don't like horns.
Oh, this is awfully sad. The first one I clicked on, and it was his last performance. I had no idea.
The opening, in particular, I just don't like it. I don't the sound of those instruments.
