This hearkens back to when you heard songs on the radio and wondered who the singer was/what the song was. For example: I'd heard bits of this funky song and it had yodeling in it and what the heck was it? There was a really good record store where I lived and they got it when I mentioned yodeling.
With the internet, it's easier to find things nowadays. I was watching TV and heard a snippet of this and whoa, what was that again? It didn't get enough play where I was. In fact, we saw a concert with groups (Fastball, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, more) and when GB played, they didn't play this, a bit of which was in a sitcom:
I can't quite articulate it. There's something about some songs that you just have to hear them again. Maybe it was perfect for that moment in your life. Maybe you only caught a snippet, though, so how do you find it?
I try to catch a complete line of the words, then Google-search /lyrics chevy to the levee/, and usually get at least the full title often wit the link naming the singer.
Maybe I should explain better, or maybe it's not an interesting topic. Hmm.
I grew up in a time where you couldn't ask youtube to show you a video of a song you like. We listened to radio and we didn't always know what songs were named or who sang them.
For a long time, we thought that Neil Diamond sang "Rock Me Gently." If we spent hours in the Neil Diamond record bin, we'd never find it because Andy Kim sang it. Maybe our lives were different then in other ways. You caught songs when you got into the car to go somewhere. If you caught the fadeout (and they'd already announced artist and song), you would be screwed.
And of course songs didn't always get the title you expected. Off the top of my head, the Doobies had "Long Train Runnin'," which many think of as "Without love, where would you be now?" Led Zep had "Black Dog" (Hey hey mama said the way you move, wanna make you sweat, wanna make you groove) and "D'yer Mak'r" (Oh, oh oh oh oh, you don't have to go-o). Some bands seemed to revel in frustrating their fans.
I was just imagining others might have stories of finding that elusive grail, the beloved tune, one that you only heard a few times but found beguiling enough to chase it down. Often it's because you heard the song, loved it, but didn't hear it enough to draw a bead on where you could get it to put in your collection. These days you don't buy it, but ok.
And sometimes there's a snippet that catches your attention but it isn't out there for sale. If you've seen "White Men Can't Jump," I was hot after this. I'm too lazy to look for it but one of the singers are the guys they played (and beat) in that last challenge before Gloria left. The words are silly but the voice is exquisite, at about 45 seconds in. Can we please have an album of this?

Or maybe you could spend 30 seconds walking to the counter at the record store and asking the clerk who sings Rock Me Gently.
