Paul Kantner, best known as the guitarist for Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship, has deceased from multiple organ failure after sustaining a heart attack.
Sad to hear this news. Another one of my favorite groups, no matter how many times they changed their name. Thanks for the wonderful music Paul. Especially this one.
RIP Mr. Kantner. How I loved the Airplane as a youth.
I have reached the age (60) where my youthful (1960s) rock heroes are passing away with alarming regularity, since they were all at least 10 years older than me.
I guess when I reach 80, the only one left will be Keith Richards.
Re: 'Same here, one of my favorite groups, led by Grace's distinctive voice they had their own unique sound'
For sure. When the notes of '3/5 of a Mile in 10 Seconds' came over the radio for the first time it threw me for a loop. The band and song seemed to usher in everything great about classic rock. RIP PK.
Jefferson Airplane is my all time favorite band. Paul has survived a brain aneurism, and a previous heart attack. I was shocked and sadden to learn he is no longer with us. RIP Paul.
I'll sure miss Paul. He and his music has given me some of my most magical moments in my life.
I must recommend the album, "Blows Against the Empire" to all the people that have never listened to it. It is the real, original 'Starship'...in the most mind-blowing way.
"Have you seen the stars tonight?
Would you like to go up on A-Deck and look at them with me?
Have you seen the starts tonight?
Would you like to go up for a stroll and keep me company?
Do you know,
we could go,
we are free......
Any place you can think of....
we could be....."
R.I.P. Paul Kantner, my friend, my mentor.....
