Some of my still-functioning favorites: Brian Jonestown Massacre, Black Moth Super Rainbow, TV on the Radio, White Denim, Pond, Suuns, Low Frequency in Stereo, The Black Angels, Afrirampo, The Kills, Gonjasufi, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Foxygen... Some of them haven't made good records lately, but they all had great peaks.
I've discovered (even in old age) that I'm an Indie fan. I haven't listened to all the groups out there but I like the Decemberists and recently found another group ... Dark Dark Dark. I stumbled across their music while watching a British thriller on Amazon last week. The theme song grew on me where I usually just fast forward through the opening credits, I found myself listening to the entire song. I can't put my finger on why I like that genre as I'm usually a classic rock or jazz listener but Indie music is now something I would listen to on a regular basis.
