Having separates careers spanning from 30-40 years, these two artists are arguably considered to be the "king" and "queen" of their respective genres. But out of the two, who do you think is the better artist? Include factors such as influence, record sales, longevity, vocals, live performances, songs, etc.

Michael was the whole package. Singer, Songwriter, Dancer, Entertainer.

Madonna is a Karaoke act as best. Slightly over Britney Spears.

Madonna runs circles around britney.

However there is no comparison here either. Michael was a natural.

Haha. Madonna has had a career spanning decades. Britney wasn't relevant for even half of one decade.

Michael wasnt relevant for 10 years. His music sounded the same after "History".

Michael Jackson all the way, and this comparison isn't even close. MJ didn't put out any new music from 2001 until his and death, a notorious recluse, but was still the most famous person on the planet.

its apples to oranges. Madonna was a polished entertainer. Michael Jackson was an incredible artist, voice, composition. Even in Martin Bashears interviews a few years ago he did some off the cuff doodling on the piano thats better than 90% of finished, produced mainstream pop music these days. Quincy Jones actually had riffs and melodies that he was gonna use with Sinatra and put it into stuff for MJ

Since neither of them played an instrument, I don't know how you could say that since in their genres that would make them half of a performer. I'd be okay calling them king and queen of their genre on entertaining or singing but that's about it.
