Far back as I can remember I have preferred instrumentals to vocal .
As a teen I had my own place on my parent's property, and a stack of 78 RPM records as well as 45s and 33&1/3 .
Even radio stations that played the classics were my favorite.
63 years and I've not changed .
There is a local radio station here that plays what they call smooth jazz, Long as it's instrumentals I listen.
I even enjoy movie scores like harry potter and star wars and a few others.
There are no words to that music.
Not that I don't like the sound of people voices, but there are several factors involved.
A bit old fashioned I suppose, but the original artists and their scores are preferred .
People that copy the original do not impress me, it is not their own work.
No mater how well they think they can sing.
I have tried to listen to plays, but not being able to understand the language I loose interest, and it spoils the music.
Learned to play by ear , a few wind instruments , a little rough on the ears though. I enjoy it from time to time.
