Okay, here's one. Who is in your top 5 of favorite groups that you collect all their material that you weren't crazy about when they first became popular?
Maybe the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
When they first became known, I was pretty busy with two little kids, one of them in diapers.
The Chilies just kinda seemed goofy to me.(heh--they had diapers of their own!)
By the time Blood Sugar Sex Magik came out, I did manage to hear some of it.
I was blown away, bought the album, but then promptly forgot about the Chilies again until By The Way was recorded.
Since then I have been a faithful fan, and do have all their music.

I didn't care for the Who's Quadrophenia the first time I heard it. But I kept listening. Then it clicked. It's truly a work of rock n' roll genius. Maybe the best rock album ever recorded. Far and above anything the Beatles or the Stones ever did.
Jimi Hendrix took a while to grow on me, too. Didn't care for his stuff as a kid or teen, but now as an adult I think his stuff is genius.
I'm not a huge disco fan to be honest, but I have to confess that the Bee Gees' Saturday Night Fever is awesome in every way.
Maybe the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I like the Chili Peppers' early stuff, but it seems like over the past 5-10 years or so they've decided to become a Top 40 radio band. I don't care for most of their recent stuff.
Midnight Oil and Smashing Pumpkins both spring to mind-- couldn't handle either frontman's voice when I first heard them. Didn't like Counting Crows when I first heard them, either.

Same for me.
I didnt even like them actually. But I dont know what happned. I think I heard them so much I had some kind of epiphany lol.
I thought John Denver was goofy looking when I first saw him on an album cover, (You know the one-glasses and hat) but now I find that look refreshing and great. Plus, getting to know the great genius that he was helped!
