Hi All! I know there is a Piano Blue Book but I have also read about another and I can't think of the name of it. For some reason Pearce or Piers seems to be it. Can any of you recommend the best way to get a value for a piano? Do any of you have access to the Blue Book? Thanks so much - you guys always know EVERYTHING!
The most accurate way to determine a used piano's value is to have a local piano technician - who has knowledge of the piano sales market - perform a detailed onsite assessment of the piano's condition and appraise its value.
Southernpixie - If you think you have a piano that could be appraised in the thousands, this would be the best approach and cost you $50 - $100. If you have an upright from the early 1900s, that's a tough market and lots of people just give them away or, if they're lucky, get a few hundred bucks. I hope this helps.
2 Goldens - thanks for the link!
Square Peg - I certainly don't believe that it is a piano that would garner thousands. It is a Lester - Betsy Ross in exceptional shape. Beautiful dark wood. I still have not found a tech in my area but will start peeking around today.
Well, I took a look on Ebay and there were a few Lester Betsy Ross' listed. Unfortunately no bids were placed on any of them. I guess there isn't a big demand for them. Here's a recent ad from Craigslist.

and here's a great place to inquire about your piano.
Can anyone recommend a reputable piano tuner to appraise my piano? I am moving and can't take my piano with me (it's a Pramberger Edition Grand Piano -won't be easy to move and I won't have the space!) I don't know it's value and would like to sell it soon.
