I only want to comment on what a great great song you reminded me of with Scott McKenzie. "If your going to San Francisco" That song truely defines the greatest generation of humans to ever walk the earth. It also defines and identifies a sub culture of Hippys and Beatnicks who if left to meet their goals, would have made a better world for all of us.

Scott looks so young in that youtube pic. Today he is a large man with all white hair, still very long and a big bushy white beard. Scott is good friends with Rob Grill from The Grassroots. I seen The Grassroots about 2 years ago when Scott McKenzie was suppose to open. He got sick or whatever happened so I never seen him perform. The show was not a total loss for me. I love The Grassroots and I got the whole band to sign an 8X11 photo of the band for me. That photo and one other signed by Reba McEntire are the only 2 Artists to grace my wall.

Oh what a great ol song. I am still a long haired hippy today and would trade my left nut to go back to 1967 again. The music, the kindlness, free love and most of all.......rock and roll. Real music !!!

If your going to San Francisco be sure to wear flowers in your hair. There's a whole new generation, with a whole new explaination.

This song was the anthem of the Hippy generation and the Summer of Love. 1967. It's also an anthem of freedom. Something we no longer have much of in American any longer. I remember it well. We the people ruled, we ruled the guberment. Now they rule us peasants with an iron fist.

My hats off to ya Scott McKenzie !!!

~flies to DesertSun's side with tears
in eyes... whispers quickly as if a
ghost of the future~

...then use the portal, Sir, as best
Ye can and tell us what it twas like...
what it felt like... for the future
weeps as i do... as we try
to find our way back home...
might Sir play what He loved in '67

~gestures to the portal of colors~

... might Sir leave the colors so
that those desperate to be there
can go straight to Thy memories...

Thank Thee so much for what was
said and if it twas proper, this
girl would beg for the sake of
Her beau and others like us...

~shimmers brightly...
smiles through tears...
fades from view~

:: hungrily listens... struggles to keep control of
emotions... cannot explain this desperation... and I
am not the only one of my generation that "feels" it...
There are underground groups who pretend to be
Janis... or Jimi... etc... there is a "spiritual awakening"
of some sort... an uncontrollable "need" ... cannot
explain... like a real living ache... I wish I could give
it a voice... but it lives inside too deep and raw... ::

Thank You Sir ... I cannot explain why we need to
hear from Hippies... why we need to "feel" the
experience ... why what is happening around the
world in small pockets is happening... but just like
encounters of the third kind... there are those who
will move with the tide... seek this something...
is it the unconscious mind and heart of humanity
speaking? ... I don't know... only that I am most
happy when in the company of those who lived it...

:: Rises ... Bows deeply then comes over and
hugs you tight... swallows ... whispers :: Thank you...
never give up... never stop believing... never...

:: steps back... waves :: Only a short time I have then
its back to bed... but shall write of what was dreamed...
as part of the tale...

:: Bows to All and waves ::

Default Mama Cass Elliott - Dream A Little Dream -Live ... The Mamas & The Papas - California Dreamin

... laying on back... arms tucked behind head...
half in and half out of tent... staring up at the stars...
the aire is cool but tinged with a sweet smoky aroma...
tent neighbours lightly strumming guitars...

am soothed by the soft murmurs of conversing...
laughter... and the occasional couple making love...
an incredible sense of well-being... bliss...

... hears amplified movement on the stage...
sounds of metal scraping... something heavy...
reflected colours change thru closed eye-lids...
blinks seeing upside down... ahhh... another set
to start ... preparations for performance art...
rolls over on tummy with chin in hands...

calls out... Ms. Rare...
.
.. looks back into the darkness... you sleep yet?
.. Ms. RARE...
no Mr. MMC... anything interesting...

... turns back to the screens... yep... hey thats
one of the Smothers Brothers!

... seconds later Ms. Rare's head sticks out of the
tent to check on things ... OO! I love him...
what's he doing here... wait!.
.. disappears...

Mama Cass Elliott - Dream A Little Dream -Live

YouTube - Mama Cass Elliott - Dream A Little Dream Live

... I stretch neck then sits up...

not sure... maybe to help someone with a
performance? a minor part? ... they're setting up
a TV camera and the backdrops been sat imitating
a studio...

... she returns with her bedroll, a canteen.. potato
chips... a bag of mary janes... a big bag of pork
rinds to share with neighbours... then hands me
a warm beer and scooching right beside me...
says... I claim this spot too! Dibs! ... giggles...

I playfully complain making room for her as the
stage scene begins... we watch cheering...
all laugh at antics... hearts melt with Mama
Cass singing...

The Mamas & The Papas - California Dreamin

YouTube - The Mamas & The Papas: California Dreamin'

... nite deepens... a cozy mist of sweet smells
thickens 'round our heads and hearts... stage
hands and roadies changes the set once more...
lifting away the bed... adding this and that... the
Mamas and Papas appear!... big screens plays
a clip as they sing...

TV camera props in place once again... Ms. Rare's
hand finds mine... I give it a comforting squeeze...
then pull her close with a smile... lays cheek '
gainst her head, bringing arms 'round her ...
close eyes and feel a well of tears as the
crowd sings...

"All the leaves are brown...
and the sky is grey...
I've been for a walk...
on a winter's day..."

You're most welcome MMC.
There were a lot of very good nu metal songs that got me through some rough days and if I need to get it out now or someone I care about needs a release I usually get them to play it.

These two are also really good cathartic songs! (and currently what I'm listening to. so crank them and sing out loud and make your own mosh!

This song is about the lead singer's father who often beat and verbally abused his mother
