Herb Reed of the Platters will be featured Sunday 6/21/09 on (Starr Talk). It takes place (Live) at 9 pm Western time. (Please adjust time in your location). Starr Talk is the nations top Classic Hollywood radio program.

The Entire month of June is devoted to the pioneers of Rock 'n' Roll! It's their Rock 'n' Roll Revival.

Herb Reed is the last original member of the Platters. He was the one who named the group the Platters based on the term used for records. They have had a remarkable string of hits over the years. The list includes: "Only You", The GreatPretender, "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes", and Twilight Time just to name a few.
Starr Talk will also air a short feature with Legendary Record producer Stu Phillips. This will be a night to remember.


Again that's this Sunday June 21st at 9 pm Western time. (Adjust time in your location). You can hear it live around the world on the web at: www.radio84.com They are expecting a large audience. Their flag ship station is KKNX on the West coast.

By the way, Herb Reed has an incredible story to tell. He will touch on how African Americans were treated by the music industry in the 1950s. It's a real eye opener.

i saw it first hand-----the poor treatment continued into the 70's-----the great voice behind the platters hits was tony williams----a fantastic vocalist

Mr. Williams may have had on of the finest voices in music history. The Platters were a class act.
