Deacon Blues, among many others by Steely Dan, has great tenor sax. Almost all of Duane Eddy's records had sax prominently featured.

Bluesbabe: Yes! Jr Walker sounded great! I especially like I'm a Roadrunner.

Thanks!

Now that all these Jr. Walker greats have come to mind, I'm tempted to find a hits collection.

Oops..missed "rock" songs...so I named only one.

"Harden My Heart" by Quarterflash featured a sax solo. It might not be "rock", but "Sir Duke" by Stevie Wonder.

Good choices! The outstanding sax that rocks is on "Sea Cruise" (somewhere around 1961), sung by Frank Ford.

This thread has really got the memory juices flowing. "Sea Cruise" was great, and I'll add "Quarter to Three" plus I enjoyed the sax in "Where or When" by Dion and The Belmonts.

Here's one that definitely deserves a mention in this thread. I've always liked this version SO much better than the Kingsmen's.
