A lot of artists were doing uncharacteristic disco (J. Geils, Kiss, Rod Stewart, Alan Parsons, Blondie) and New Wave (Alice Cooper, Linda Ronstadt, Billy Joel, even Foghat) in the late 70s/early 80s.
