Yeah, alternative bands are notorious for playing to their shoes. It is one big mopefest.

I picked up on M83 several months ago, and they've rapidly become one of my favorites.

~~~~~~~~~~
Star Sail off of their first album. I love this song. So. Much.
Not an exact fit, but a little early Stereolab...
Stone Roses! Stone Roses! Stone Roses!
They've definitely changed over the years. From a kind of electronic noise, instrumental (or occasionally vocals as instrument) group to an almost retro new wave or shoegaze-ish group.
One of the favorite bands of my teenage years, The Ocean Blue, doesn't have any videos on YouTube or elsewhere (I've been looking a long time!)
Not really on topic but what the hell...a good song from around that time period of mid 90's alternative 'rock'.
...and this thread needs all the help it can get.
YouTube - Throwing Muses - Not Too Soon (live, 1991)
